I have a question...
When does the retreat begin and end?
The TEC retreat beings Saturday morning. Guests are asked to arrive between 8:15 a.m. and 9:15 a.m. in order for the weekend to proceed as scheduled. The retreat is scheduled to end around 5:30 p.m. on Monday afternoon. Parents/Guardians will be notified if it will end early due to weather or any other issue.
Why won't people tell me everything about the weekend?
TEC is an amazing experience that changes many lives. It is similar to seeing a good movie, and not wanting to spoil it for others. Your friends and family want you to experience the weekend and develop your own feelings about it, rather than spoiling it for you. TEC is a life-changing experience, which is why many people in the TEC community stay involved because of their wonderful experiences on the weekend.
I have applied, but have not heard anything yet. What should I do?
TEC processes the applications as the weekend draws closer. You can assume that your application has been accepted and will be processed. If you have questions about your application, or would just feel better to confirm it, please email the webmaster at info@hihtec.org and they can help you with confirming or discussing your questions.
I am not a Lutheran, is TEC still a place for me?
TEC is designed around Lutheran theology and beliefs; however, that does not mean you have to be Lutheran to attend the weekend. There are always non-Lutheran participants.
What if I need to arrive late, or leave early?
Guests are asked to arrive and depart at the times indicated above. If that is going to be a problem, we would suggest attending another weekend so that you can fully experience the weekend and all of its activities.
I have heard about a reunion, what is that?
The reunion is an event, that the entire TEC community is invited to attend. This includes all of the people who have attended TEC weekends in the past. Reunions happen occasionally throughout the year to keep the TEC community close.
Who is the staff on this retreat?
TEC is completely run by volunteers. The TEC experience is designed to grow and create teen Christian leaders; therefore, the weekends are run by teenagers, in addition to adult mentors.
What do I need to bring for the retreat?
TEC has created a packing list for you which can be found HERE. Other than that, just bring yourself and be open to experience the weekend.
